Samurai lift(Updated w/parts)

I ordered the other day my 6" SPOA lift and new 32" Pro-Comp mud terrains (4WheelParts didn't have any TSL in that flavor). I know its not RBV based (I still have my Ranger and Explorer), but this is what Im gonna be wrenching on...

Not gonna get real crazy with it (yet), just gonna make it a nice, mild wheeling rig.

I love those old things! I don't see too many of them around anymore..

Good luck with it! Post up pics of it when you have it all installed.

I love the little Samurai's, especially the ones with the full top like yours! That one is sweeet, what year is it??

I'd love to have one in my "collection", but everybody wants a fortune for 'em.....:annoyed: Definitely keep us updated on the project, maybe a little build thread???? I love mild builds, sometimes less is better...:headbang:

This one is a 87. I only gave 1000.00 for it originally. The one thing that really tics me off about it, is I have no dash lights and haven't really had the time to track down why.

Wow, good score....down here they would probably ask around 2800 for one that looks that nice.....:icon_surprised:

nice.. love it. can't wait to see if lifted on real rubber

That's a great deal on a clean tin top. Samurai's are awesome little rigs, had a few myself. You'll be amazed what it will do with a SPOA and 32's. Get yourself some lower t-case gears, along with the obvious they drop your final drive to help make up for the oversize tires.

is this a build thread? i wanna watch. i love those things. i wanna get one but i've never seen them around here

I will be updating this thread with pics when I start turning wrenches on this.

I snapped a few pics today so here they are......

Last pic is the lift kit (I'm used to big springs, RA's ETC.). No real work done on it yet (I do have it up on some Jackstands now though), maybe this week I can start on it.

Looks good..and great price. Around here, even the rough ones are goin for 3-4 times that. That's about the only import that I really like for some reason. Score!

That thing is gonna be sweeet! Seems the further South you go, the more those lil Sammi's cost...:shok: I'd love to find a deal like that!

I can't wait to see the progress! :headbang:

Got some more work done on the old girl tonight, and the kit I got is really coming along nicely. It would have been better if they would have included pics, but I'm managing through it. Anyway here are some progress pics......

Wheel and shock off, had to take the sway bar off as well (not really needed on a vehicle with this short of wheelbase anyway.

Heres one of the new shackles installed. Way nicer than the "vampire fangs" that were on it(heavier as well)

I did one side at a time. I removed the entire spring, clamped it together, removed the centering bolt/turned it around per the instructions and re-installed the spring. My girlfriend helped get the U-bolts started, and she went back together...

Thats how she's sitting tonight. I still have ti install the longer brake lines and the steering, but hopefully she will be mobile at the end of the week. I will run a few beads with my MIG once its driveable (new garage isn't wired for 220 yet) on the spring pads.

you cant get u-bolts that would have the threas pointed up? like a RBV rear axle. i've never been a fan of them hanging down. just something else to get hung up or have the threads ruined so you cant get them off.

looks good though, i really want one.

I don't know how many times I can say it, but I love that thing! Lookin' good bro!! :headbang:
