Well put.Hopefully this is a wake up call for southern.Most people who drink and drive will do it on a regular basis and will probably not even think what the consequences will bring.

Southern, you said earlier that you weren't going to drink again, drinking is not the problem. Drinking and Driving is the problem. After reading the entire thread, Im not sure what to make of the whole thing. Yes, I too have lost some good friends to drunk driving, but Im not going to rip on you for their deaths. Please learn from this. Don't make anyone post up your obituary, or god forbid, someone elses obituary, because of a lack of judgement.

i have done plenty of stupid things and ya know what, HE is the only person who can fix his own stupidity and solve his own issues. i recognize he has been completely ignorant and risked the lives on many over the course of his ride home BUT if all it takes is one wrecked truck to learn his lesson he is doing OK in my book. i have spent my time in AA meeting, MAD meetings, and in front of a judge. i know damn good and well what control drugs and booze can have over someone. i support the kid in bettering his life and agree with Vagent completely because he sounds like one of the "old froggies" i would love to spend a significant amount of time around because he knows better that I in many situations. i have respect for those who respect me BUT give this kid SOME respect. just remember HE is the ONLY person who can change his ways and right his wrongs. a MAD meeting or a few months of AA meeting will do him a whole hell of alot of good IF he is willing to change his thinking. the NIGHT i got my DUI i was in a AA meeting less than 24 hrs later because i needed to see how wrong what i did really was. i did quit drinking completely for 16 months and it helped me re-evaluate my ways. i dont have 1 beer and drive anymore because its MY choice. he is an adult and deserves the chance to make his own decisions. i support everyone of you who has chewed his ass because u are right but remember to him, your just some old fart spitting out your opinion. you cant help someone with there life at all if the dont respect and trust you, PERIOD.

I have suffered with CRS from time to time and no I've never totaled my truck and spouted off that I was drunk and shh.. the cops don't know on the world wide fricken web.

Oh I don't know about that. I think ME & a lot of other guys know exactly what he is going through with. At least I HOPE he is anyway. If not? Well, then all I can say is he is a fool & a danger to everyone. I KNOW first hand as I had a son that just would not listen to anyone. And now?? He can't listen to anyone. So don't tell me I have no idea what he is going through. I think too about the people that could possibly be going through a lot worse times right now had he done more then just roll his truck. More then anything else I as a father hope it's a WAKE UP CALL for him. I really truely mean that. For his & everyone else's sake in the future. And that includes YOU too. I don't know you, know anything about you & most likely never will BUT I'd hate like hell to see it posted on this forum that you got killed by a drunken driver.
