So its friday night, just got out of school and its the first day of spring break and of course I was out partying and drinking. Its starts getting late so me being myself I drink a few more beers befor I head home. As I'm driving home I know I'm fucked up, couldnt hold my lane, swereving all around rushing to get home cus I was running late. I go to turn into my naghborhood, I'm drunk and just pin it around the corner trying to slide out like a dumb ass, It kicks out, I lose it, hop the meadian, Im thinking "OHHHHH SHHHIITTT!!!" and the truck flips........Next thing I know my truck is on its roof, I try to open the door, its stuck shut, so I crawl out the window.

I was at party and the girls whos house it was asked me if it was ok if she threw the trash bags with all the beer bottles in the bed of my truck so I say ok. so theres glass and broken bottles everwhere at the seen so the first thing I did was pick evrything up and throw it in the woods and theres glass all in my foot cus I lost my shoe. Then I call my best freind, his dad is the police sargent for the county so they bolth show up, then I call my dad, he shows up and all tell you right now that was the happyiest ive ever been to see him, anyways he knew right away I been drinking, then the cops and EMTS got called called.

Anywas they show up, I check out fine, the cop rights his report and luckily I didnt get a ticket, or DUI.

But thank god I was whereing my seat belt one of the few times I do, I walked away with only a scratch on my wrist. But my truck is done for, and this is the worst feeling ever, im still shook up and ughhh Im just glad no one eles was involed and idk even know right now.... I can hardly type right now, im still buzzin and just soo shook up im almost in tears, im just thankfull I walked way.

Hers a pic of where I wrecked, Im going to the wrecker yard tommarow and all get a few pics of the truck, its pretty bad.... X marks the spot where it was on its roof.

Some how I walked away with only 2 little scratches on my wrist from crwaling out the window

Glad you are OK but even more glad you didn't hurt or even worse kill some innocent person in your attempt to prove to the world how good a driver you are under the influence. Sorry but I don't have much feelings for people who drink & drive especially when you know full well all the dangers invovled. Why do I feel this way?

I've lost 4 of the closet friends I had in this world all because of people like you who think they are such "bad ass" drivers when they are drinking. These people were good hard working people who would give you the shirts off their backs & do anything they could to help anyone. Three were all driving home from work, minding their own business, OBEYING the laws of the road & each one got killed by some damned fool who didn't care what might happen to hinself or anyone else. The other one was driving home from his girlfriends house where he had just proposed to her after dating her for 2 yrs. He got hit by a drunk driver less then 20 ft from his driveway at his parents house & was killed instantly. And just like you, not one single drunk driver even as much as got a scratch on them but they wound up killing my friends.

Like I said, I'm glad you aren't hurt & MORE GLAD you didn't hurt or kill someone else. AND be damned glad I ain't your Father. You sure as hell wouldn't like me if I were. What is it going to take to make people learn besides killing some innocent person(s) that drinking & driving don't mix??? And one other thing. FRIENDS DON'T LET FRIENDS DRIVE DRUNK!!! Sorry but I have no mercy for those who drink & drive. You get what you deserve. And sometimes you get off lucky to just go out & do it all over again.

I drink very little myself by my own choice, but when I do, it's in the privacy of my home & I wouldn't even think of trying to drive somewhere no matter what. If I happen to need or want something, I ask someone to either take me or go get it for me.

Drinking & driving ain't COOL at all. It's dangerous to yourself & every innocent person you come near. In 99% of all DUI cases, the accused will come up with some excuse as to why they were drinking & driving to justify their actions. Ain't no excuse good enough after you have killed or maimed someone else for life all because of YOUR stupid actions. And the REAL REASON you were drinking & driving to begin with is because you WANTED to. NOT because someone else MADE you do it. I hope you have learned a good lesson from you experience. Only time will tell.

Sorry for your truck....... Hope you will never drive drunk again and don't let your friend drive drunk again too.........When i was younger me and my friend have totalled a car too when we was drunk...... Nobody was hurt but i've never drive drunk again or let a friend of mine drive drunk again. Like someone else said on this forum, Full throttle, no bottle :)

Good to here you got out and with no injuries so to speak (truck). It is hard to cope with something like this because you never thought it would happen to you. Nobody ever does. Although it has never happened to me I am sure this is an eye opener for you. At least you were well enough to post. Becareful and call for a ride next time.

This guy got convicted of first-degree murder of ramming into a pickup truck and snapping a 4-year old girls neck. He'll get an automatic life sentence. As far as i'm concerned, you knew you were impaired; you knew what impaired driver's do; you aren't any different from this guy. My dad would have been marking up the pavement with my body if I had been caught like that.

Blackwell's blood-alcohol concentration was 0.13 shortly after the crash, above the 0.08 legal standard for impairment in North Carolina. Hardin said for Blackwell to get behind the wheel was akin to putting a bullet in a gun.

I'm sorry I have no sympathy whatsoever for drunk drivers, they deserve what they get. By getting in that truck after you had been drinking you decided that you driving home was more important than the lives of every person you passed. In fact in disappoints me that the police did not give you a DUI and minor consumption, that at least is an attempt to teach a lesson.

I couldn't agree more.......

I wish they would have hauled your arse off to jail...

I don't know what the laws are in other states, but I CAN tell you in the state of Virginia, they are DEATH on drunk drivers. And I do mean DEATH. They don't tolerate it at all & I have to say good for them.

Am I guity of doing the same thing when I was young? DAMN RIGHT I AM BUT there is a huge difference back when I was young (50 yrs ago) compared to today. There were no where near the number of cars on the roads back then & far less young people who even had something in which to drive. Did that make it right? NOPE it sure didn't but I as well as some others were just lucky as hell we didn't kill ourselves or someone else. And all because we thought we were being COOL & getting by with something we knew was wrong to start with.

When I was 19, I came upon a terrible bad accident in which 8 people were killed by a drunk driver who had lost control of his truck, crossed over the median & hit the people head on causing their van to explode in a ball of flames. Eight people (4 kids under the age of 10) in the van were burnt to death while all the drunk driver got as a cut on his head & his leg. He was sitting on the side of the road when I got there but it was too late to help anyone in the van. He was so drunk he didn't really know what was even going on at the time. That more then anything taught me never to drive & drink no matter what & to this very day (46 yrs later) I have never once driven anything if I had been drinking. It's just not worth it no matter what the case may be. This doesn't count the 4 great friends I lost to drunk drivers. Am I against drunk driving? You figure it out for yourself.

YOUR DAD SHOULD TAKE AWAY YOUR LICENSE HIMSELF. Like the others say you did not hurt anyone else the way you were weaving in and out of your lanes. You are very lucky that you did not get anykind of dui or get yourself put into the booty house.

yup.

Cops didn't do their job at all. Hell around here, you get a field sobriety test if you have a goddamn headlight out (Trust me, I know). Honestly, you should LOOSE your license. At least you lost the truck. Gotta learn somehow.

My ex GF's brother was hit by a drunk driver in a 1 ton with a plow mount, while either walking or on his bicycle. He was in the ICU for a fucking month and now one leg is 2 inches shorter than the other....and he got off lucky. (this was when he was like 10).

If that was me, my father would have kicked my ass...same goes for my brother...and he's 30!

Good to hear you are ok though.

been there, done that.heres the deal, you came through it alive, learn from it.

move on with your life and live well, you have been given the proverbial SECOND chance.

Glad you and other people didn't get hurt, but I think you should have gotten a DUI. Being without your license for 6 months and the fines you would have had to pay, not to mention probation would have had a sobering effect. You got off lucky and should count your blessings. If nothing else maybe you will learn something from this and share it with your friends so it never happens again.
