Generally, you can shoot to protect yourself unless you live in one of those pathetic eastern states.
Georgia has the Castle doctrine, none of that duty to retreat BS, you can legally defend yourself at home, work or, given the legal conceal carry permits (as there is no permit for open carry), any damn wheres that you can legally carry a gun. You may also defend total strangers if you happen to stumble accross a mugging or soemthing of the sort.
I'm glad I don't live in one of them "pathetic" eastern states.
On the matter of your shed's security, get some claymore mines, rig 'em up, and when the cops take your report of why total strangers got blown to hell, tell them you collect war antiques and they must of been screwin with 'em.
