i know of others that use schedule 80 for radius arms... idk, i know it works... but i don't think i'd recommend it to others. but it is an option

there is also a pipe called XXD or something like that, its super strong-- but costs as much as DOM lol

Well I priced all the little odds and ends for these control arms using everything from RuffStuff. DOM included. I know I'm forgetting something. But the price came out to be $376.15 not including the shipping. And I'm also forgetting the 10% discount of $37.62 and the final total, not including the shipping, is $338.53. Still a lot less than other companies. Now if I could only sell my boat this Saturday. I can take that money and buy what I need for control arms.

See that was my thing. I was only saving like $130 or so by making my own instead of buying Rusty's at $470. By the time I considered my time. And the fact that I only have basic cutters and welfare and hand tools. No cold cut saw for really straight cuts or other more specialty metal tools. I was almost as well off by buying them.

I know I could make them. With the tools I have. But it's like $130 cheaper.

And besides I work in a bus shop. We've got torches, metal cutters, and MIG welders everywhere. I have all the tools I need to fab these up.

You don't want the kit. The link mounts and stuff probably won't work anyways. The xj's don't even frames..

The $470 is the lowers and uppers for their long arm kit. Just the long arms.

Mine are straight ones and I have no problems. The bent ones are meant to have better ground clearance.

I understand about having better ground clearance, but come down hard on a rock or fallen tree and that bend gets ten time worse. At least if you do it with the straight arms and bend those, it won't be nearly as bad. Maybe I'm talking out my ass, but what does everyone else prefer?

If your making them yourself, just go straight for simplicity. Another thing that helps, know your rigs limitations, they all have them.

I've got to get the swap done first before I can test the limitations. Wish me luck in selling my boat tomorrow. Hopefully with the money I can buy the materials I need to get this project moving again.
