ranger refit/build thread

seems like as good a time as any to show off the painting i did of my favorite place in the whole wide world on the hood.despite whatever else happens with the paint, this stays.

after getting it around the corner,i had to go from pulling to pushing to get it in the shed.i found a hi-lift fits nicely in the reciever to use as a push bar.

With a pin, would the hi-lift also work as a pull bar?

Richard

i recon it would, though that one looks like it's missing some pieces...

stroked and poked? :D:D:D

don't see why not....

just the handle...didn't need that dragging on the ground.

nothing so fancy.stock bottom end is good for 600+hp,which is still less than i'm looking for...plus there's no such thing as premium gas where i am.

just going to open up the top a bit...performer rpm cam, weiand intake, roller rockers, grind some lumps and bumps out of the ports, and that should about do it.

the bottle will go back on for when it needs a bit more motivation, and the headetrs i built so many years ago are still very servicable.i'm more interested in it being reliable when i'm 6 hours from nowhere and need it to get me home than in the ultimate power machine...this ain't no trailer queen.

i've always liked edelbrock's performer rpm stuff... i REALLY wanted an rpm airgap? for my stang...

totally excited to see this thing drive again! (or drive in general, don't remember seeing any videos, just pics)

the airgap isn't available for the 460.weiand's is known to be one of the best on the market for mild engines such as mine.i've had good results in general with the rpm cam,so i'll go with what i know.

there's a vid a ways back...i could re-post it here if wanted.

if you've got spare downtime... i don't want to take any time away from building as this truck is awesome

w have now reached the point where the big photo gap starts,so i'll show a short video

i'm sure most of you have already seen this, but its a good one.
no one else would even attempt this hole, even after i went through it.went through several more times taking people for rides.the cab of the truck filled up with mud to the bottom of the dash.

so what are we missing in those photos?

getting the headers finished.
paint...no more flat black
assorted action and destruction shots.
i don't remember what else.

found it...page 8.

as far as i know this is the only video in existance of it.i have a really hard time filming it while driving...my arms just aren't long enough.

if i get a job and some money, i'm going to buy you a tripod!

though an idea would be a go pro... just make sure you don't lose it in the mud...

thanks for finding that video, i totally remember seeing it now!

no probs,man.

got a major downpour going on right now,so i'm hiding inside anyway.

it's been doing that all day.sun comes out,i get some work done.downpour starts,i hide inside for a bit till it stops again...hang on-it just stopped.i'd better get out there to pull the wheels off.

just tearing into the details now...pulling the tires off the rims, the arms off the rear end, figuring out the mounting for the 60 front and such.

i won't be taking it down for blasting till probably next weekend...i need a couple days without rain for that though and the way it's been here the last little while it's hard to say when that'll happen.

but the frame is on the trailer and ready to go as soon as conditions allow.

lower humidity so the newly blasted frame doesn't rust?
