  1. Cams in 2007 2.3 Duratec

I have a 2007 Ranger 2.3 DOHC in a project vehicle with the 2007 Ranger 5 speed manual trans. Has anyone put cams in their 2.3 DOHC Duratec? Any real life experience and actual results? I have looked at cams from Fab9, Esslinger Engineering, Brian Crower. They are a little pricy - around $600...
  2. 2.3L ('02-'11) Wiring Diagrams for 2003 and 2007

Thanks for the additional informtion RonD. Now I have to see if the ECU can be programmed to eliminate all of the pieces that will not be on the vehicle and if it will start.
  3. 2.3L ('02-'11) Wiring Diagrams for 2003 and 2007

Great. Thank you. The car will be a cruiser, so the Tach is not the most important gauge. Coolant temp, oil pressure, volts and gas gauge are important. LOL
  4. 2.3L ('02-'11) Wiring Diagrams for 2003 and 2007

Thanks RonD. I am hoping to use the 2007 ECU because I have it. The 2007 ECU has three connectors. My understanding is that the 2003 ECU will have only one large connector so I would have to obtain and change the complete engine wiring harness (I am hoping to avoid that). My next stop will...
  5. 2.3L ('02-'11) Wiring Diagrams for 2003 and 2007

Ok, RonD you have given me some useful info. New plan is to use the 2007 ECU, get PATS deleted, permanently ground the ground side fo the starter relay, use a GPS speedo, aftermarket gauges for Volts, Coolant Temp (add sensor in top rad hose), Oil Pressure (T into existing oil pressure port)...
  6. 2.3L ('02-'11) Bypass Power Steering Pressure Switch

Well, I looked up 05 Mazda 3 on Rock Auto and the belt tensioner was an average price of $150 plus shipping. Good find on one for $36 And for better or worse, I spend thousands on my car addiction each year LOL - trying to control the cost so that I don't spend a few thousand more in 2022
  7. 2.3L ('02-'11) Bypass Power Steering Pressure Switch

Thanks. That Mazda belt tensioner is an expensive part and I would have to figure out a different belt length. Does anyone know how to bypass the PS pressure switch?
  8. 2.3L ('02-'11) Bypass Power Steering Pressure Switch

Thanks for the link. It appears to be easier to leave the pump versus fabricating a bracket for an idler pulley. The mounting bolts go down through the bracket on the current PS pump, whereas the Dorman AC delete kit you showed in your link have the bolts going front to back on the engine.
  9. 2.3L ('02-'11) Wiring Diagrams for 2003 and 2007

OK, thanks. Still pulling together the knowledge and the pieces to make this work. I appreciate the info RonD
  10. 2.3L ('02-'11) Bypass Power Steering Pressure Switch

I have a 2007 2.3 Ranger engine that I am using in a hot rod. I will be using manual steering. My plan at this point is to leave the power steering pump in place and connect the two power steering hoses together to create a loop from pressure hose to return hose. Do I need to bypass the Power...
  11. 2.3L ('02-'11) Wiring Diagrams for 2003 and 2007

Thanks for the reply RonD. So I would need to get a 2003 ECU and a 2003 engine wiring harness which has the one large connector versus the three smaller ECU connectors on 2007 engine wiring harness. Then I have to have PATS turned off in the 2003 ECU or is it a separate PATS module in 2003...
  12. 2.3L ('02-'11) Wiring Diagrams for 2003 and 2007

I am putting a 2007 2.3 (from a Ranger) in a hot rod. I have the engine wiring harness. I also have a 2003 Ranger 2.3 that I can remove parts from. So I am taking the instrument cluster and dash wiring harness from the 2003 Ranger. I am looking for a source for wiring diagrams for a 2007 2.3...
  13. 2.3L ('02-'11) No PATS in 2005 Ranger 2.3?

Thanks for the detailed reply RonD, greatly appreciated. So if I were to swap in the ECU and instrument cluster from a 2004 to 2011 2.3 manual trans, I assume I would also need the key for that same vehicle - is that correct?
  14. 2.3L ('02-'11) No PATS in 2005 Ranger 2.3?

I read somewhere that there is no PATS in the 2005 Ranger 2.3. I am swapping a 2007 Ranger 2.3 engine with manual transmission into a hot rod. I have the ECU for the 2007 2.3 but I do not have the dash wiring harness, ignition switch/key or the instrument cluster. So, if i get an ECU for the...
