so i was playing in my brothers back yard last weekend (back yard is a swamp) and i came up out a little hard the last time:headbang:. I lost all power steering and now the wheel turns like two time before it actually turns the truck, the steering box is leaking fluid but i cant figure out where:icon_confused:. their are no cracks or chunks missing it just do theses steering box's have gaskets or something im missing here. I need to figure this out cause now i gotta turn my toy to dd cause the damn dodge is about to blow up again. any help points in me in some direction thanx folk"s

there are teflon washers on the connections from line to pump and o-rings on the connections. check that all connections are tight and no leaks there. also check the quick connect fittings leading to the steering rack... if its leaking because of a bad o-ring, you have to replace the entire line, you cannot replace just the o-ring. there could also be a leak coming from the point where the pulley attaches to shaft which goes into the pump. if thats the case, im not sure if you can service it or it needs to be replaced as a unit. probably be easier to just to replace the unit as a whole. i would asssume you probably damaged one of the line and that where you are loosing fluid.

Check everything stated above, then ...
Pressure wash the gunk off it. Then check the physical steering linkage and all hard connections. Have a helper turn the steering wheel while you check the column, especially rag link and slip joint. Then check input and output shaft. The input shaft and the output shaft should move at the same time (though not the same amount). Check the case for micro-fracture cracks.

It sounds like you broke an internal spline on the steering box, or cracked the case itself.
