You need a different carrier for dana 35 regear?

Ive been shopping for a regear on my 91 ranger, and a few shops said that i need to change the carrier in the front to get the 4.56 gears to fit. The stock gears in it now a 3.55. They said i need a "four series" carrier to get it to fit.

I searched around here and didn't find anything on it. :dunno: Suggestions?
 
Certainly not lol. There is always some inconsistencies and mis-information because the D35 has been in so many things.

The TTB based D35 uses one carrier, the 3.55 and numerically higher jeep carrier, even for the 3.07's. No carrier breaks, no different styles.

There can be some differences in the spider gears, c-clip VS non c-clip. But if you took the 3.55 and numerically higher Jeep carrier (with C-clips, because the one side does still use a e-clip (similar to c-clip) - though it technically can be removed), it would fit into a the TTB D35 housing and line up with no problems.

Like Ledd mentions, all ratios in the Ford D35 were fitted with the 3.55&up carrier. Of course while it's apart for your 4.56s would be an excellent time to throw a locker in there at the same time.

good to know i dont need to spend more money than i need to.

definetly love to throw a locker in there, espeacially now that im going to have it all apart, but i want to put an arb in the rear, and that is a little out of the budget for now...
