S o a friend of mine is about to do a t-bar lift on his colorado, and he was told to loosen up bushings in his front end(not sure exactly what) before he adjusted the bars, then retighten once he got the right amount of lift. Or else it would have e a terrible ride and wear out the front end much faster......which sounded awfully similiar to the crticism some folks have about the t-bar lift on the ranger.

I haven't been able to find this issue discussed anywhere, so i'm assuming it's not the same case for rangers.......but i have to ask, as i'm about to attempt a 2" shackle/t-bar lift.

Has anyone experimented or tested anything along these lines? ie loosening or removing any other front end components before adjusting the bars? To a noob it seems like it would let things settle more "naturally" instead of being forced into a different position?

Thanks

On my truck, all I did was jack up the front end and turn the torsion bolts an even amount until I got around 2" of lift. Once you finish, just drive around to get everything settled in to place, then recheck your measurements. You'll want to get a alignment after ahwile to make sure everything is still straight. When I got mine, everything was still aligned good. All it does is give you a little more ride height and a stiffer front end, other than that theres really no downside!

I theory you should do, but in the real world it won't make any difference.

Not sure about the chevys but with rangers cranking the t bars almost maxes the stock shocks out right away. If you upgrade the shocks to accommodate the lift you will have stock or better than stock ride. After I lifted my truck I bought new shocks and it rides better than when I got it.
