Been working in my '92 2WD
Thanks to the help of this forum I've got the spindle off my I-beam, with the ball joints in it.
Now I need to press the ball joints out but have some question.
I read another thread that indicated, on a genII, to get the ball joints out they are both pressed toward the middle of the spindle, ie upper is pressed down toward the lower and the lower joint is pressed up toward the upper. Is this right?
On my truck the lower ball joint sits flush with NO ClIP while the upper has camber adjuster on top, and is not flush on the bottom and DOES have a clip. This seems different than other descriptions of GenII 2WD I've read here. Anyone concur or able to clear up this difference?
Last part of this question: How in the world do you get enough force on the ball joint press tool when the spindle is not attached to anything? I tried standing on it but didn't accomplish anything besides earning weird looks from neighbors. Ya'll just use a big vice to hold it still or something? Any advice there?
Thanks again everyone. This truck has to drive about 2,000 a week from now and it's a slow and steady walk to the finish line!
