as some of you have know i recently tore into my 99 4.0 ranger.. i did this due to haveing an antifreeze leak on a head gasket. i bought the truck 2 years ago and at that time i did head gaskets. when i did them i noticed the heads were cracked like a normal 4.0. it had 95K on it! so instead of dumping another 800 at that time i decied to chance it and its been great. now its to the point where it would misfire if it sat for a few days then clear up and had a slight antifreeze leak. this wasnt my first rodeo. ive buuilt up a few 4.0s and what not. so i bought new heads from Alabama cylinder head new rocker arms and push rods from advance auto. (delta cam rockers are JUNK!!) i had some alum spacers machined for the rocker arms.. AND i took EACH lifter apart and cleaned them.. and to my surprise they were all really clean.. (found a write up on explorer forums on how to do this ). started the truck up and i had a clatter for a while untill the lifters primed up. thought this was going to fix my annoying issue.. NOPE its still there and i didnt have one before the new heads. i had this SAME issue on my 95 2 years ago and i cleaned the lifters like i did this time and that solved that issue.. i really dont know what else to do :dunno:. i did noticed if you really step on the skinny pedal for a little bit both manifolds have a little red glow to them.. i dont remember this before but then i never looked for it... truck runs fine and the computer is in green status for emissions no codes nothing.. so iam asking some of the 4.oh guys!! Help!
