Parts: Purchased via Universal Radio
Yaesu FT-8900R Transceiver
in box mounting bracket - Universal Radio included a remote face panel mount with the purchase, but I'm not planning on using it
CPM5 Antenna Mount from Comet
UHV4 Antenna from Comet - A separate antenna for the 10m element is preferred and on the horizon
Wire maintenance tools from local hardware store:
Place to drill a hole for coax, behind the pull out seat in the back:
Antenna mount:
Coax under bed lip:
Building the RT mount (next three photos):
old wheel chock:
paint and dry:
mount and bracket assembled, dense particle board (off a piece of decrepit ikea furniture), velcroed to cab flooring
power line run:
boring coax line runs, replaced grommet with slitted, original rubber plug:
grommet/silicone looks better now, or do they?
under passenger seat:
and the beast(ipod gone now):
I haven't photographed the antenna yet, but it is functioning correctly. Currently working to stabilize the mount a little better. I'll try a piece of angle iron between the mount's set screws and the lip of my truck bed. Other than that it just needs a little apex wrenching on occasion.
