Induction cleaning time, Bro and the next thing would be to check for a nearly fouled plug or an intermitting plug wire. Pain in the butt to find, however. Two buddies would help out a lot. I had the same problem and found it was a slighly fouled plug (#3). I just put in all fresh plugs and no more issues.

I've had a slight rough idle with my ranger for a long time now, never been able to figure out what it is. No check engine lights for it, no nothing. Off-idle the thing runs strong as can be. Dry compression is perfect (185lbs on all cylinders), throttle body is clean as a whistle, has new gaskets on the intake plenum and the o-ring on the upper egr tube has been replaced (had a hell of a nasty leak there), plugs and wires are all new.

The only thing I can find thats slightly abnormal is that all six plugs have a slight coating of white powder on them after the engine has been running at all, even if its just for a few seconds.
