So when I bought my edge it had paint on the seats and such and the drivers side had a tear so... I decided to do some nicer seats that would be a little more at home in my dd/desert runner ranger. I already had one smittybilt xrc that I had purchased a few years ago so I ordered another to match and this weekend I finally got some motivation. Here is the process involved, the order of seat base removal is not super crucial. The following pictures are for the passenger seat, the drivers side is slightly different but nothing crazy.
Remove the seat from the truck and disconnect any wires. With the seat out of the truck...
Start to remove all the bolts that attach the frame to the seat bottom.
You may have to remove some of the seat cover to get to bolts and pull stuff out.
The tilt back handle is held on by a little clip like a window crank.
The tilt mechanism will need to be removed also.
When you get the seat removed from the frame you can start to either drill, grind, or plasma(what I did) the rivets that hold the extra crap on the sliders.
Remove the rivets and pry the crap off the sliders and you will end up with this.
I forgot to snap a pic of the sliders mounted to the new seat but I just used the rear most factory hole in the slider that I opened up just a little to accept a 3/8" bolt. Drill the front holes after the rear are installed, I used 3/8" bolts with about a .100" thick washer to space the seat off the sliders (clearance for the slider release mechanism)
I did something with my seat belts and it works for me , but I'm not going to post it because this is a serious safety item that you need to be responsible.
Here just shows the difference between the factory seat and the new seat.
So far I'm down with how they look and feel
