Has anyone here used the aluminum replacement cable ends to re-install the cables to the rear door handles? I've ordered a set but there are no instructions nor can I find any online after 3 hours of trying. They say form follows function, but these defy that saying.

If you get the ends from Dorman you don't have to strip the insulation off of the cables. Also, the top latch end has a different fitting than the other three ends.

Here's a video.

I'm getting ready to try again to fix these. I have to ask, has anyone here actually used these ends and got them to work reliably?

Haven’t done it yet, but I’m going to have to do the one door on my green Ranger. I’m more worried about getting that truck back on the road than one door un-stuck at the moment though, lol.

Well, I bought 3 bags of interior panel fasteners and spent a day removing each latch on the drivers side door. degreased and sanded off the roughness on the poly inner portion of the cables to make them fit easier. Cleaned and greased the latches, then opened up the channel in the aluminum repair ends to allow the cable to move through easier. Made the cut deeper so the cable passed straight through. Super glued the poly interior to the aluminum ends. saturated the cable with synthetic oil. assembled everything and tried it all before closing everything up. Now the driver side works well. I tried the same thing on the passenger side. It won't work with the handle. I reckon I didn't get the poly center seated fully in the aluminum end/s. I'll have to take the cables out and soak them in acetone, pull them and re seat them. it does work with just pulling the ends, though.
