hey guys! new to this forum and i am building a 85 bronco ii for mud and trail. looking for a lot of lift and still alittle flex. cant decide where to start in the frt. using a full width 44 from 79 bronco for the frt.

What size tires are you wanting to run?
How much lift are you looking to achieve?
How much does the front end of your truck weight (sprung weight)?
What suspension set up (FS radius arms and coil buckets)?
How much wheel travel are you aiming for?

A 9" full-size Bronco coil will give you around 12" of lift, which would render that truck MUCH LESS practical for trails. Stick with 6-8" of suspension lift and cut your fenders. Keep it low for stability.

Shawn (4x4junkie) and Will should be along shortly to pick up where I left off...

42" iroks
enough to clear 42" irocks
weight? 302 v8 and bronco ii body?
yes
mostly made for mud but dont leafs in frt.

how much lift will the xj 8" coils give for lift?
i plan on cutting the fenders alot

8" Rusty XJ coils will settle around 5-6 with the weight of a v-8 over them

i would toss the 44 out the window if u want to really run 42" irocs... pick up a front 60 and order the radius arm wedges from bronco graveyard, its what i did on my 93 f-150, i would def run the 9" springs, but if u do the 9" springs and a 3" body lift for a strictly mud truck u might not have to hack the fenders too much

i have 15" total lift, susp, body and tires, and im clearin 40" gumbos easily, and iroks always measure small like gumbos do

my old 36x13.50" bias iroks measured 36.5" on the truck and 15x10 rims

+1

42s on a D44 go *boom*

As for the amount of lift from the coils, it all depends on where you put the buckets on the frame.
Perhaps a better question might be: "What height will these coils sit at when loaded?" Then you can calculate where to put your buckets.
(My guess is the Skyjacker 8" XJ coils will sit somewhere around 18" on a BII with V8 and a straight axle. They are 23" free length and said to be 237 PPI)
