X2x2 Ecm

so yesterday, i got a complete wiring harness and ECM from a 92 Explorer (manual trans ECMs are popular in these junkyards). i could have swore it was a 2wd, but everything i find here says the X2X2 is for a 4wd RBV. will i be able to use this PCM in a 2wd ?
 
The PCM isn't any different 2wd vs 4x4.

For a 1990-92 the X2X2 is the way to fly.

It gives you peak torque just a little lower than
an X2Y2 Ranger computer.

On a 1993 the computer to run is an ANY1 (yeah that's REALLY the number)

thanks Allan, i was at the j/y again this past weekend and verified it was a 2wd. i had posted originally because all chatter i read about the X2X2 was related to 4x4 RBVs. while the motor i got was from a 93, and i began pulling wiring from the 92, i found one difference...92 is one HEGO, 93 has 2 HEGOs. so far ive gotten all of the wiring under the hood. now i need to sort through the wiring on my truck and get it ready to splice into the new harness.

You'll need injectors off of a 1990-92

the 1993 uses different injectors.

To use the 1993 injectors you'd need an ANY1 computer and
the wiring for the dual HEGO's (and the Y-pipe they go into)

I went with 1993 stuff on mine, because it was the first year for
an "active data link" and the last year WITHOUT EGR.

MY issue isn't with EGR, it's with the failure prone sensors that tell
the computer that the EGR isn't working and the grotesque overreaction
of the computer to that information.

That and the EGR equipped 4.0's also have the Cam Position sensor
which is just as failure prone.

My thought is that shit you don't install can't fail and leave you along side the road.

well great, so ill head back to the j/y to fetch the injectors. unless the 2.9l injectors will work ? i would have pulled wiring from a 93 but coming across a 93 with manual trans is difficult to come by, let alone all the other vultures who insist on cutting wires rather than disconnecting the connector 2 inches from where they cut. the Hedman headers i got with the engine have dual bungs for the O2s, ill just plug the unneeded hole with an O2 until i get a wideband O2 to stick in there.

going a bit off topic, but how difficult is it going to be to swap in the power distribution harness into an 88 Ranger ? 88 was the last year before they went to a firewall connector interlinking I/Panel and Engine. ive already bought an EVTM for a 92 Explorer, should i get an EVTM for an 88 Ranger or are the schematics in the Chiltons manual good enough ? i look at the jumbled mess of wires coming from the firewall and soon my brain goes into overload lol.
