could i run an x pipe under my 83 ranger. and if so where would be the best place to put it- towards the front or rear

due to gas tank location and where your axle is id say youd have to put it really far forward, hence fabrication: $$$$! plus if you put it far forward and run two straight runners it almost defeats the purpose, i suppose you could run it down past the tranny/transfer and then converge b4 the tank and run the rest over the axle. i dont see why you couldnt, but you may not be satisfied w/ the results depending on the engine. x pipes dont really sound good on anything smaller than v8s from what ive seen.
