ok everybody i have a A4Ld and it was pissing fluid one day after i pulled a trailer then i let it sit 4 a couple days and put fluid in to move it in to my shop and it didnt leak a drop and i said "wtf" well not the aberviated version so i drive to town and nothings leaking but it shifts hard from 1st to 2nd wats the deal cuz that trans is really starting to piss me off

Maybe you overheated the trans? Not too sure as I haven't had the pleasure of owning an A4LD.

Definitely overheated it. You weren't towing in overdrive were you? That's an easy way to burn up a trans. The fluid in it is toast now. You need to do a full flush and get all that crap fluid out. You may also have other problems and I'm not sure exactly what's causing the hard shift.

thank you for your help ill get right on that. . . . . and yes i was pulling in overdrive oops sad part is i kinda wanna kill that engine and trans so i can put in a 5.0l and AOD

i would say you have very little time left with your a4ld. mine lasted about 5k after that happened to me.

there's a seal that when the trans gets over heated it expands and pukes all the fluid out. Once it cools down it'll contract and seal up again. The thing to remember that when it decides to puke the fluid, don't try and rev it up to build pressure and drive anywhere. Just stop right there and let it cool down, otherwise you'll burn out some bands in the tranny. Could be why you have the hard shift now.
