Writeup: 4.0 swap 94 Ex to 89 B2

I'm in the same boat no spark and fuel I have a 91 explorer( doner) 90 bronco should I pull the fuse box harness ? My B2 is stick Explorer is Auto I'm went 4.0 alt I think that's where the problem is no power to the ECM no check engine light when starting. I'm lost any suggestions

Check all your fuses, relays, and connections in between. The ecu power goes straight through the firewall to the distribution box.

I did a similar swap on my '88 B2 from a '92 explorer except I fully used the explorer harness and scrapped my B2 harness. disciplerocks is correct, that is the o2 wire plug. When I first turned my key my worst fear happened.... Nothing! I searched for 2 days throughout the truck and finally found a plug that was only halfway connected on the steering column. After that everything worked fine. Your neutral safety switch prevents you from starting an Auto trans in gear. If the computer doesnt recognize your in neutral or park it will not let the engine fire. Same if you have a manual and there is a sensor to make sure you have the clutch engaged so you don't try to start the truck in gear. You can by pass these switches if you want. If you your trans sensor is connected, then I would search through the harness for loose connections.

I'm pulling the fuse box wire harness out next did you just plug in lights etc and the big round plug buy the brake booster my B2 is 5 speed the explorer is auto.

You could have gone even further into detail, noone ever complains about that.

My question for you is, do you feel the 4.0 has enough power?
I know your running larger tires, I'm sure they rob a lot of ponies.

He's geared properly for his 35's. When you go up in tire size you need to regear to keep that stock gear to tire size ratio.

My 4.0 is AWESOME with 33's and 4.56 gears, yet with the 3.73's (before I regeared) it lacked some power. Main thing is to gear! Also don't be scared of gearing. I debated 4.10's and 4.56's for a long time and I'm SO glad I chose the 4.56's

Agreed. I can't imagine needing more power than the 4.0 can provide. But larger tires is all about gearing.

swap is in a 89 b2 from a doner 94 explorer eddie auto but........ im stuck with the swap im, in the process doing for some one. i have a camshaft sensor plug on the back side of the upper man. and no camshaft sensor???? right now i have power to my ecm to my ignighter box (next to pass headlight), but no spark or injector pulse all my grounds are good, nss is plugged in and no ecm codes present but know for a fact that the ecm is getting power and putting power out to my relays in the new dis box. fuel pump kits on and got fuel to rail but as i said no spark or injector pulse please help

Might look back into the NSS. I bypassed mine along with the clutch pedal switch.

It's your cam sensor, this provides injector fire. You must have both a cam sensor (cmp) and the crank sensor (ckt). Ckt fires the coil packs, cmp fires injectors...
