I'm sorry, but after watching project rolling thunder, and seeing them have the cab/bed off the truck every episode I can't understand how this show trys catering to the 'average' auto enthusist... one without a lift in their garage.

I decided to replace a brake pad in the same way they do all of there work this weekend.

Step 1, Disconnect battery:

Step 2, Remove bed:

Step 3, Replace brake pads. :annoyed:

Rolling Thunder is a huge project requiring a lot of custom fabrication and requires pulling the cab and bed off the frame. They have a lift to make it easier. Guys at home can accomplish the same thing with their arms and a couple of buddies. What does that have to do with a simple brake job? I've seen them do brake jobs and other simple repairs and they don't pull body parts off or do anything unreasonable like that. Sometimes they pull parts off so the camera can fit in spaces and so we, the audience can see what they're doing. (That's the point of the show, isn't it??)

I was just poking fun at that it seems every episode the bed or cab is off the frame.

I understand that you would want to show things, but it doesn't help show how to do it with the cab ON etc...

I replaced the fuel pump with the bed off, pulling the bed is EXTREMELY easy.

i hear ya man, it's like extreme 4x4 when they do their "budget" builds that cost $10k.....my wife would divorce me if i told her i was gonna do a "budget" build and i ended up spending $10k.

budget builds are when we you seriously contemplate whether you want to shower for the next week or buy something for your truck

i hear ya dasfinc

$10k on a truck... lol Jesus. Thats like my spending cash for 4 years worth of student loans. No beer and no TV makes Surrey something something. We should start our own TRS Backyard Builder's TV show or some shit. lol
Show them the real meaning of a budget build.

My truck start to finish, including the price OF the truck, AND The supercharger is less than $4500... THATS a budget build, not a $10K crate Aluminiator engine plus all the other crap they have going on...

who would disconnect the battery to do a brake job anyways? i can understand pulling the battery for a starter replacement, but not for brakes. and wearing gloves all the time? unless there is some welding/torch work involved, im not bothering with gloves. what wont readily wash off will wear off in due time. remember you might be a mechanic..........if you wash your hands BEFORE going to the bathroom.

Well, if you listen to Ford, you need to disconnect the battery and "position the vehicle on a lift, in neutral" just to look at it funny.
