Hey, wheels are on sale for $8 a pop this week at the local wrecker, so I was hoping to get something with different backspacing that'll fit my b2.
From my understanding, Jeep yj/tj/xj rims are the same bolt pattern, but a different backspacing??

Are Explorer rims the same as B2 rims for backspacing?

Does anyone know which years/models have suitable rims for my b2?

Thanks.

Possibly, I have explorer rims on my truck. So they're the same as a Ranger.

Well aware that they are the same bolt pattern, and will fit... The question is if they are the same backspacing?

and if they are, what about jeep rims?

Here's a link for Ranger tire fitment. About 1/2 way down is a chart with what vehicles came with 5 x 4 1/2" wheel stud spacing. I think the jeep rims have a back spacing that pulls the tire in towards the frame 2" but I've never checked them.

Yes, Jeep rims are different though.

I've heard reports that the center hole is too small for the locking hub to fit through Jeep rims.

I think any rim (aside from something aftermarket) would have either the same or deeper backspacing than the stock RBV rims (deeper BS would make your truck narrower, not wider).

you will have to get the center holes bored out at a machine shop for the jeep wheels to fit over your hubs. not a big deal or much money, just know that you'll have to do it for them to fit. i'm running late model (2005 iirc) ranger/xplorer 16 inch rims and the centers had to be bored out on them as well to fit over my hubs.

It's in the tech library here.
