So my aunt dropped off her 1993 Ranger last weekend for me to replace the shackles.

It turns out the shackle mounts were nothing but mounds of rust, the shackles were nowhere to be found, and the leaf springs were coming up through the floor of bed! :shok: :shok: :shok: :shok: :shok:

Besides that, there was so much slack in the throttle cable that flooring it opened the throttle maybe 40%. I just drove it at night and it turns out that there is only 1 light bulb still working in the instrument cluster. I pulled the codes to find that both O2's are bad. Have to call and ask if they want those replaced.

I've got the suspension fixed, bed welded back together, and I put about a 3/4" spacer in the throttle cable to get rid of the slack. Looks like I'll be pulling the dash apart tomorrow night to replace all those burnt out bulbs.

It's a 2wd supercab, 3.0L A4LD. It's got a 5-digit odometer that reads 93,XXX. I'm thinking it's 293,XXX miles given the fact that all but 1 bulbs are burnt out in the instrument cluster. Those don't usually go till after 200,000. The 3.0 still runs superbly! Somehow the original A4LD still shifts into all it's gears when it should :shok: Not sure how that's possible.

Oh, and for all who are interested, comparing this 93 supercab 2wd 3.0 auto to the 90 regular cab 2.9 auto, both with 3.45 rear ends, I must say the 3.0 feels more powerful and definately accelerates faster. That makes up my mind about the 2.9/3.0 debate. I guess I can now join the 3.0 lover / 2.9 hater club :thefinger: :icon_hornsup:
