Anyway.. after I got pulled out it seems my 4x4 doesnt work and the 4wd light in the dash stays on. Any ideas on what to check?

2002 4x4 4.0 XLT Auto with auto 4x4

Any input appreciated. Thanks

Same problem

Man I got the same problem, my lights come on, I can hear clicking in the tcase and my front differential spins when engaged and doesn't when not engaged which leads me to believe my tcase and push buttion is fine, however I don't know if it's my auto hubs or what. Somebody told me about a 4x4 actuator at the top of the front axle...I'm going to try that tomorrow an see what happens. If you find it and see it it works let me know how it goes for you.

I was just reading up on it and apparently there is a control module for the 4x4 in the pass side kick panel on these. I would guess that is a good possibility considering I had water up over the speaker in the passenger door. The water was probably completely submerging the pass kick panel.

Are you sure you're 4x4 doesn't work and you're not just getting misled by open diffs?

I only ask because I've seen that confusion before.

Pretty sure because normally when I lock in I can feel it locked in when I try to turn. Now it turns just like its in 2hi. Also now the light will not even come in.. im betting that I fried that computer.. I had water up to the dash in the pass floorboard and where that computer is it was surely submerged.

And my horn musta got fried too.. it is incredibly quiet now.

wow, that hole was really misleading.

That should make anybody want to get out and check depths, no matter how harmless a puddle might look.

Wow.. that was DEEP!

That's what she said! :icon_rofl:

That hole is deep! I've been in a few like that myslef. I hate cleaning mud out of carpet......

Killer truck by the way!

Thank you. Yeah.. Im gonna need to run a dehumidifier in there a couple of days to get rid of the musty smell and borrow my uncles steam cleaner for cars.

well i bet you did fry the comp. so the best beat to fix the problom in my upinun would be get rid of the electric crap and swap it all to good old fashin manual!!!! that what im in the mid of doing to my 97 4.0 ranger. manual 1354 t-cas, manual huds, manual trani. well the trani was manual sins day one but i just had to fix a hole mes up of shit but its so much more dependabell then electric and less shit to brake on it, plus its cheper. thats just what i think tho.:icon_thumby:

Don't know how well that will get rid of the smell. I had to take my interior completely apart (seats, carpet, door panels, kick panels, rear seats, etc.) to get all of it out.
