I had an 83 Ranger and an 86 BII and an 89 BII and I always like the looks of that Gen Ford!!! The Rangers just look good with a short or long bed. I really wish I could have bought my 83 Ranger back when I sold it to a cutie girl who kept putting notes on it several times a month. She got one hell of a great running lifted truck on 33's!!!! I'd buy that truck if it were close by and see how much I could talk him down!!! I do like that color.

that thing is pretty sweet. i wish mine looked that good. it appears to me it was modded by someone who didn't have TRS to consult to check out their options on upgrades. Hence the reason there is no D35, 4.0, etc.

Sometimes they are best left alone. No need to really mod it unless you a really going to wheel it to crap!!! I'd take it like it is and not worry about it. If something breaks..update it!!!! Just enjoy it as it is. I always like the performance of my older 2.8 and 2.9 Liter motors. They performed very well with 33's and the right set of gears. I never had anything break on me and I drove them coast to coast.....California to Florida three times a year and I wheeled in Utah at Moab every year and had the blast of my life. Low maintenance and great reliability. My early Rangers and my BII's were really great vehicals.

Or they used what they had. Maybe they had a good running 2.9 that was crashed and had an anemic four cylinder truck and combined them into one. Hard to argue with the price of "tired of tripping on it"

I have had my truck for 11 years and a couple weeks and aside from packing wheelbearings and brakes twice I have not had to do a thing to my D28. Had it up to the hubs in mud, bumpers in snow no problems. We will see how it does in driftbuster duty this winter with the 302 now...

My 7.5 hasn't wimpered at all yet with the 302, I can spin a '31 for about as long as I care. I do have a 8.8 to put in this winter mainly just for the limited slip.

dont get me wrong i would love to have it if i had the money. if i were to get it i would definately get a 4.0 or a 302 and stronger axles. judging by where it is i would say that the most off roading it did was go down gravel roads or maybe wheel in a pasture on some of the hills in nebraska. the only problem is the most wheeling i would do is gravel roads and a couple pastures. there is no place close by to wheel. it sucks.

I think of interesting note is that it says he "upgraded" the transfercase as well as the transmission. I would be interested to find out if he really upgraded anything at all or just thinks it was an upgrade because it was the tranny and tcase behind a larger engine. Of course, he could have gone from a TK tranny to a M50D-R1 and from a 1350 tcase to a 1354 but I somehow doubt it, I think it's just his perception of an upgrade.

1. It could have been swapped before there was such a thing as the 4.0L. It is an '86 after all.

2. They could have had the 2.9 just sitting around in a parts truck or something. With nothing or next to nothing invested in it. Im sure most of us in this hobby have some spare parts sitting around. I prolly have enough to build a whole truck if just had some frame rails to start bolting the stuff on to.

3. The 2.9 is a decent little v-6 anyway. It just gets a bad reputation by people who try to turn 35's with 3.45 gears. Or think it should pull stumps like dads super duty F-250.
