The 94 Dakotas had a bed that would be quite a bit bigger than your stepside bed.

if you want it to fit bad enough you can make it fit without any major trouble

With a quick Google search I found that a 94 Dakota bed measures 59.6" inside. Couldn't find a stepside Ranger measurement so if you could measure yours you'd know how far off it would be.

Yeah with a sawzall and a welder it would fit. Just take a little out of the middle and bring the lights closer together.

a dakota is not a compact truck they are the only true mid sized truck but you can make it fit just cut a section out the middle and and off the sides and weld it all back up

A stepside Ranger, with an under the rail bed liner, is 42" wide at the wheel wells. About 46" or so everywhere else.

my bed has no bed liner or nothing. just what came factory. so, with this knowledge. it wont fit correct? or should i just keep looking?

as it is no it will not fit you would have to fabricate it to fit
