Hey so I have transmission issues with my 1987 xlt 4x4 ranger. It’s the 2.9 with A4LD. It drives fine in 1st and 2nd but won’t go into 3rd and 4th. Reverse is also gone. I was going to swap my transmission but I was wondering if I could use an A4LD out of a 1994 4.0 Ranger. And tips or advice?

Would a 1994 4.0 A4LD fit into a 1987 2.9

Bolt patterns are the same. Iirc there is differences with flex plate and starter. But not sure...
