Hello everyone. I have a little problem I cannot figure out, so I turn to the brain trust, you. Okay, my rig is a 92 Ranger, Super Cab, 4x4, 4.0L, 5-spd tranny. When I start her, she's stuck at wide open throttle. The only things I have added/done to her since she last ran correctly is I've added two additional batteries (prepping for a winch), cone air filter, and a master clutch cylinder. The throttle body goes back to the rest position, no problem. Oh yeah, I also took off the vacuum body for the cruise control and painted it. Did I screw something up? Anyone have any ideas or suggestions besides taking it to a garage/dealer? Thank you so much in advance for your help!

got paint in the cruise control box maybe? cuz in my experience if a vaccum hose is in the wrong spot or not on at all, yoour truck wont run worth a damn but it does rev up high. does it idle smooth at high rpm or really ruff?

I belive you can unclip the cruise linkage. Take the 4.0 engine cover off with the 2 8mm head bolts and under that is the cruise linkage that just clips onto the throttle linkage. Just to rule out the cruise.

Thanks everyone! I'll try disconnecting the cruise control vacuum module tomorrow morning and try firing her up and see what happens. I'll post and let you know!

Hello everyone! Well, I disconnected the cruise control cable and just as you suspected, it started and ran smoothly, no WOT. Okay, with that out of the way, does anyone have a diagram on where the three vacuum hoses are plugged into the cruise control vacuum module or will anyone explain to me where they go? I'm almost 100% sure I put them back into the right places but this will help me rule out if it's a bad module or just stupid me. Thanks again my friends! -J
