what kind of power improvements can i expect from a head swap on my 88 2.9 2wd ranger if i swap to a set of world heads and do a little port and polish work? also i suck at using the intrawebz and would like some info on a good source to purchase a set (yes ive tried google).

i have called a few places trying to locate these heads myself and more than one company told me world has discontinued the 2.9 heads

go to ebay, that's the last place i saw them. they were about $300-$350 though, not worth it to me, just swap in a 4.0

id love a 4.0 but i know i couldnt handle the swap by myself and dont want to get in over my head on my dd. besides i think it would be cool to hot rod a 2.9.

LOL, not much hot rodding, cleaned the mess out of it first, wire brushed almost everything, replaced all the gaskets, replaced the freeze plugs, rear main seal, added headers, painted up everything real nice and purdy

i acutally wanted to get the world heads, but i wasnt gonna drop $350 for heads for a 2.9. i'm a fan of the 2.9, and for what i want to do with my b2, the 2.9 has plenty of power.

i gave more than that for used heads from a junk yard for my s-10. its a 91 with a 305 from an 84monte ss. the camel humps were 400 plus the cost to rebuild.

I bought a set off ebay for $250 shipped and after the auction the guy told me he would give me a top end gasket set and new head bolts for free. I put them on my '88 2wd stx and ported them and the intake. and noticed it gets up to speed quicker than before. But from what i've heard the heads themselves are the same as the originals as far as flow go. they're just casted thicker.
