Yes, odd topic. But i need a new pair, again.

Being in dairys/snow where your boots get soaked in water/coated in floor cleaning chemical, then you climb in the truck with the heat on tends to play hell with the leather, and before you know it its cracked and ripping off the sole.

Ive ran carhartt boots for years untill TSC jacked the price of them outta sight, then i switched to catapillars. Id get about 1.5 yrs from the carhartt and 1 yr from the cats, last pair i waterproofed and the cats made 1.5 years.

Its ridiculious to spend 100-150 bucks on boots a year.

So i got online and found these....

http://www.baileysonline.com/Footwe...9-11-Men-s-CSA-Safety-Toe-Wellington-Boot.axd.

The bottom part that your foot goes in looks like its nylonish coated leather and i would think this would stand up to the wet/dry cycles my boots see.

Any imput before i waste 169 bucks on more shitty boots?

And before someone mentions red wing, those only last 2 years in these conditions and are double the price of the ones i buy.

I don't put my boot through quite that cycle, but they get used hard, and I have tried just about every brand out there, Cat, Timberland Pro, Gates, even Braham once (that was a mistake). I never get more than 12-18 months out of them. I usually walk right through the soles.

The pair of Timberlands I am on right now are about 2.5 years old, but I have been on lighter duty of late, and I have managed to wear through the toes.

When I did landscaping, I had a pair of Georgia Boots, waterproof and actually kept my socks dry. Don't know if they will work for you but a lot of the country boys I know swear by these, so I tried them . Still have the boots but no longer mow yards so I wear them to the JY and stuff like that. Also hi tec makes a decent boot

Ohh good ol braham. I tried those when i was still driving forklift, got 4 mo from them. Total joke. Never again.

Timberlands ive never tried. But they are pricy aint they? And IIRC dont make a western style/pull on?

Back when I wore boots on a regular basis I never got more than about a year out of a pair. Now they last year after year, but they rarely get worn. Might be related.

For what it's worth, I did find Wolverine's to be a good combination of well made/comfortable/inexpensive. They didn't last any longer, but it was a decent product.

I was disappointed with wolverines, red wings, and Coleman but the Georgia brands really held up better

It depends on your shoes size more than anything. I buy them from a local shoe retailer, wear a 9.5, and I'm only paying $150 regular price.

I usually know far enough in advance that I will need new boots that I can watch for a sale and get them closer to $100.

I might look into timberland then. I wear a 13 wide so im sure itll be on the upper end of price.

I never heard of hi-tec but the reviews seemed to range from "total shit" to "best ever", but i can get a pair of magnums for 65 bucks. Might be worth a shot.

Guess im just to hard on clothes/boots. Finally found jeans i can get more then 6 mo out of....

I like red wings. Comfy as hell and mine seem to last at least a year. If you are using these boots for work you can write them off on taxes. That's how it is in Ohio, you can claim 1 pair of boots a year. So you could dish out a lot of money for boots and get some of that money back at tax time.

I wear the more tactical style boot, not the pull on ones. So my experience may be of no use, BUT I have worn almost every brand of steel toe, first pair in 95, company provided them off a tool truck, red tip I believe, they sucked. Next pair I bought myself, wolverines, 6mnth at best. Then went to Coleman, don't even bother. Got a job as a grounds keeper for the State of Florida, they provide one pair a year for free. Finbally switched to Georgia Composite Toe, best boot ever.

Note: The fact that the STATE provides a pair a year, tells me you wont get much more than that out of any work boot. $100-$160 a year isn't that bad honestly, and I can claim that $$ on my taxes also.

I had to quite wearing steel/composite toe boots because they gave me terrible ingrown toe nails. Thankfully I am in a situation that I don't have to have them anymore.

It seems you are doing everything you can short of paying through the nose for a pair of Whites or Nicks boots. And even then, outside of the high quality fit and comfort, would they last 4-5 times longer to justify the $600 price? Depending on who you talk to, you should be replacing your boots and shoes about once a year anyway for better foot and back health.

|Thats the thing though im sittin on my ass majority of the day. The leather gets dry/rips out way before i wear out the rest of the boot.

If just think at 150+ a pair they should last 3 or 4 yrs minimum.
