I just made a deal to trade my 94 Wrangler for a 96 S/C Ranger XLT 4x4, 5sp!!!!

Is there anything I need to know about these years? Weaknesses and the such. Here's a pic

no real weakness with that truck, made up of a very solid drivetrain, u have plenty of power with the 4.0, a tranny u wont kill in the m50d and rears that will hold up to plenty of abuse.

the ONLY possible weakness is the rangers came with the 28 spline 8.8 versus the explorer's 31 spline rear end, but that only comes into play if u really start liftin/wheelin the truck

BTW, thats one hell of a clean lookin truck u got urself

Thanks, I'm pretty sure I got a good deal. The mileage is a bit high at 170,000, but my 86 has 200,000 on the 2.9 and still runs like a top. When the 4.0 goes I'll just get a long block for it, I'm plannin to keep this truck for a long time!

that thing shouldn't give you any troubles. unless you wheel it, get the jeep hubs, the standard warn/ford hubs are prone to grenading. I have been wrenching on my 96 for the past 4 years and if you're good to it, it will be good to you.

I wont lift it, but I think it has a small lift on it. It will be a DD and will get towed behind my motorhome with my Road King in the back on trips.

Very solid truck, it looks like it already has a small lift, that looks like a Superlift extended Rad arm..

It might be, we've just been doin the email pic thing and have decided that we liked each others rides. I'll know more in a couple of weeks since our schedules dont mesh for awhile. I'll stay stock on this one and freak the 86 into the toy!
