My credo
If you can't go through it or around it, then go over it.
Gettin a Female Blue Heeler and a male Aussie cattle dog.

breeding pair......

they are the same breed, but only the Aussie Cattle dog is the recognized pure bred. Some cattle dogs showed ability and liking for heeling horses, goats, and sheep and here breed with others of the like. thats the only difference. Heelers have a natural ability and liking for "heeling"

Whats that make?? Aussie Blue Cattle Heeler Dog?

a blue cattle dog.

I worked at a Kennel for a year. I love Heelers and Aussies. I have an Aussie, she's very smart. My favorite 2 dogs that would come into the kennel was a red Heeler and a Aussie Heeler mix.

I have a 2 year old aussie x black lab cross. Between the intelligence/energy of the aussie and the happy go lucky retardedness of the lab, it's quite the piece of work. Sure is pretty though ...

Make sure to post some pictures up!

Heelers are awesome looking dogs. I like Aussies too, but probably my favorite dog would be a Pit Bull. My sister has one that I took care of for a year or so, and aside from the fact that she has separation anxiety, she's an amazing dog.

Edit - Nice looking dog ejholmgren, I love that grey color. Since you asked, I shall comply

And here's my Mom's/my dog. A Tibetan Terrier/Border Collie mix. A total spazz, but a great dog

I have a female blue heeler and she is loyal as the day is long(to me and the family). I would hate to be anybody that hurts the family if she's around. She's smart, and knows she's supposed to be working. Heres a pic of her when she was a pup.......

I don't get the female until Christmas. she was just born Nov 5, i have been on this guys waiting list for 2 years and I got pic of of the litter....... I am getting the only Female.

the Cattle dog is a 9 month old male in an Amish Animal shelter (farm) and they said they would hold him till we move next month.

i have a friend who has a heeler that will get him a beer from the fridge! but won't close the fridge door every time.:D

speaking of pits my pit grumpy was a great sheep dog.its hard to get the herding dogs to go against their instinct and drive the sheep away into pastures, barns, etc.instead of going around and bringing them in for the kill like they want to do.he was so useful that the local oldtimers said i should enter him in the sheepdog trials!i got pretty damn fast with him

grumpy could care less about the sheep so i could call out -left,right,go on,or here to the dog and get them anywhere i wanted without constantly calling the dog back BETWEEN me and the sheep or cattle(which they don't want to do since it drives them away).or worry about him killing sheep if he was blocking a gate or barn door like the high energy herding breeds do.

didn't frustrate me near as much as the champion line working dogs did to their owners.they need a lot of guidance and exercise to not go bonkers.he is still a pitbull though so i stuck with the simpler commands:D

prolly just needs more exercise and play, nice dog.
they will guard their kids with their lives, when i was a kid our pit tiger wouldn't let my dad spank us! or strange people touch us with all their fingers intact

Yeah doesn't get a whole lot of exercise, but when she does, she's happiest in the world. She does have some issues though, if you leave her in a crate when you leave the house, she is OK and waits for you to come home, but if you leave her out she chews things and craps everywhere.... Although that could be said for many dogs, lol. She also seems to mistrust men, maybe because my sister's ex and a few guys held her down and clipped her ears when she was very young.

its a shame pits are abused as much as they are.people are mean to them just because they look tough when they can be the best natured dogs.

i think thats the problem, women usually don't have a clue how to train animals

Yeah, my sister went through some really hard times a few years back and the dog was right there with her, and that includes living out of her truck and a bunch of other illegal stuff I don't even want to know about. Between there and where she is at now is when I took care of her... Just one dog btw, I don't have a pit. The dog I think is 3 or 4. She is very smart and remembered me even after going well over a year without seeing me.

I'd agree she doesn't really raise them the best unfortunately. She's trying to move to a house with a big yard now so that'll help a lot.
