Won't start after fill up

Have 03 ranger 4x4 4.0 v6 runs just fine but when I fill up it won't start. After about an hour
It starts fine and runs great. Have been told that Ford has a problem when cold fuel hits
The fuel pump it causes it not to work for awhile, has any one else herd this. I have
130.000 miles on it will a fuel pump replacement be the thing to do?

The condition you are referencing is called "thermal shock". It happens when cold fuel hits the hot pump. It can generally be prevented, on an otherwise healthy pump, by not letting the tank go below 1/8th. This is not a Ford specific issue. It is common on GM vehicles as well, and can happen to any vehicle with an in-tank fuel pump.

Now to the question. The answer is no. Throwing parts at the car without diagnosis is never the correct course of action. Next time it does it have a fuel pressure gauge ready to test pump function. If your pressure is low, then replace the pump. Should be at least 50 PSI key on, ideally more like 60 to 65.

There are other conditions with the evap system, like a valve sticking, that can cause a no-start right after fill up.
