Could possibly be the Throttle posistion sensor. When you stomp on the pedal to pass, it's supposed to basically over ride everthing else and increase the injector pulse. It has like a 500% influence over the other sensors. It is a a driver demand specific sensor.

You may also want to check if the intake tube could be colapsing causing it to choke the engine out, when passing.

The fuel pumps can only do their job if they have full electrical power. Verifying that full battery voltage for the pumps is there while it's running might just reveal a problem. This of course requires good literature on the fuel pump circuit (factory manuals or the thick chilton's manual IMO).....or letting a good shop (dealership) do it.

Many little shops SUCK at troubleshooting problems that end up being the electrical system.

might be the O2 sensor....other threads with simular issues/symptoms lead to the O2.

How is the cat/muffler are they plugged??

Is it over fueling when this occures??? or lack of fuel?? how about the air filter??

just tossing thoughts out...hope it helps

Yeah, if it starts hesitating, then gets worse as you accelerate, my first thought is a failing catalytic converter, when it goes really bad, it'll just idle and if you try to give it any gas at all, it'll die.

Next time your out and at that speed, and feel it start to hesitate, accelerate hard, safely of course, and listen for a moaning sound from the passenger floorboard. If it's the cat, pieces of it start plugging up the exhaust and pretty soon it's like the "ol banana in the tailpipe trick". Sometimes they clog slow, but sometimes they go all at once and it feels like you ran out of gas, the exhaust can't get out the pipe anymore. Bad for Mpgs too..when they clog slow, you don't really notice it at first, but you have to accelerate harder to get the same speed your used to driving at.
