First , the clutch interlock switch is not hooked to clutch pedal. It will not idle unless I push it in about 1 inch. It always idled high . I have a motor craft IAC , TPs and ordering a clutch switch as well Injector s cleaned and tested , throttle body also cleaned. I'm stumped. Any help greatly appreciated. Ecm and distributor are aftermarket . Thanks

That's an odd one.

Does this truck have a cruise control, or ever had one?

yes it use too.

Long shot- make sure cruise dump valve is isn't creating a vacuum leak when the pedal's out. It'd have to be mounted wrong and plumbed wrong, so it's a VERY long shot.

Otherwise, see if pedal out / pedal in is rubbing or moving any wiring harnesses.

Nothing rubbing , cruise unit is no longer on the truck . The pad with controls is still on the steering column. I will probably remove clutch rod and drop pedal to the floor after I remove pad and unplug cruise and horn switches. Don't know what else to do . I'm lost. This is the 90 Ranger.

Isn't there a button behind that pedal that has to be adjusted?

My 89 STX went through a period that when I came to a stop., it would idle high until I pushed in on the clutch. After about a month of doing it, it went back to normal and never came back. I could not figure out how the idle had anything to do with the clutch and never did find out why it happened. Good luck on finding what is causing your issue. It would be really good luck if it would go away like mine did.

Your luck is like mine . It did this a while back and went away. But this time it's not wanting to leave. But I think it has the dreaded black/white wire involved in it. If I'm not mistaking that's a computer ground circuit. Hopefully someone will help me figure it out . RobbieD I think says maybe cruise is doing it . I will do some more unhooking and checking this weekend.

Getting codes 10,30,77. Cruise unhooked , steering pad removed .New Motorcraft IAC, TPS, map sensor. Timing correct. Removed clutch switch and put automatic plug back on harness , no change. With clutch neutral safety switch plugged in laying on the floor I can push it in about 1/2 inch and it smooths out but idles high . I'm at a loss. Also KOEO it passes test . Thanks

Are 10 and 30 even codes? I couldnt find them on a list.

Have you checked the wires running to the interlock? Anything shorting out on the clutch rod or pedal?

I’m still fighting it . Why when I plug in my Pro Link computer it does idle (a little high) but runs smooth with no codes other then 10 and 77 with it running KOEO no codes. What is being bypassed with the computer plugged in?

Just in case it makes a difference this is a 90 Ranger. I never had anything likes this when I converted the 88 Bronco 11 to manual shift . Thanks
