I have a rebuilt trany that was soft and would jump out of first gear from the first day i got my truck back from the shop. The shops gonna replace the trany next week.

But today i was being stupid!

Sitting on an incline, engine off and the truck in first. I was observing that that the truck was slowly rolling down hill. Just to see what happened, i switched to second and let it roll, notice that i moved faster. Just experimenting and learning.

Well now i cant get it into reverse.

Is it fixable or do i just deal with no reverse till the trany swap.

   GO HEELS!!!

honestly there should be nothing wrong with reverse try starting the engine and applying pressure to the reverse position and start letting the clutch out slowly it should pop in.

Nada. Cant even feel the slot to reverse.

Can you shift into 5th? 5th & reverse use the same shift hub and sleeve and, natch, shift rod and fork. If you can't get into either gear, there is probably something wrong with that system (bent shift rod perhaps). If you can get into fifth, it is possible that the lock-out mechanism for reverse (the one that makes you go from 5th to neutral before you can go into reverse) could be messed up.

I can't recall whether your message said you can or can't shift into reverse with the engine off. Can you?

I agree with the comment above -- that rolling your truck with the engine off and in either first or second gear should not cause a problem with reverse. It shouldn't cause a problem with any gear.

Good luck.

Just got to park with no reverse in mind. LOL. Ive done it twice now.

Thank you for the info.
