So my truck got stuck in the mud and I had to leave it on the trail overnight until someone could pull me out. By the time it was morning the mud froze around my truck.

So once i'm out I notice a wobble at all speeds, and it gets worse the faster I go. I got home and was inspecting my truck and I found that I could twist the tie rod assembly with my hands. Would that be the problem?

But I can also feel it in the back too and I can see the rear of the truck bumping around through the mirror and out the back window

you have mud in your rims. take off the tires, all of them. wash it all out. remove your drums and wash them out.

what about being able to twist the tierods? or is that normal?

You can twist them some amount fore and aft because it is a ball type joint with a bushing in it.

I can twist it up to around 45 degrees.

As for the rear... I was washing them off and I noticed that the balancing weights were missing so I'll go get some put on tomorrow

fore and aft is OK, side to side is a worn ball joint

When I had my wagon wheels on the old 4runner I had ice and snow stuck between the spokes. The vibration start at about 40 mph. Yeah try driving on the highway at that speed. All I did was go to a self car wash and wash all 4 wheels till they were clean and that cured the problem.

yeah it doesn't move side to side, which is good. I'm going in tomorrow to get the rear wheels balanced and cleaned and whatnot (fronts too)

My brother went mudding one time. He cleaned his jeep after work but still had a bad wobble at higher speeds. Turned out he missed a giant chunk of mud in the wheel well that was causing something to become off-kilter.

Ive driven around 50 miles since i recovered it and i've washed it too. while driving a bunch of shit was flyin off, and I could tell the mud was coming from inside the wheels cuz I would hear a chunk fall off and the truck would wobble less and less. Now it only wobbles at 65 mph and above and I'm pretty sure it's because the rear wheels are off balance. I'll let you guys know after I get it back from the tire shop tomorrow.

So I got the wheels balanced and cleaned the shitload of mud out from behind the wheels and its good as new haha
