wiring

That is what I was referring to in my post....It's easier to swap it all in it's entirety. The later system is easier then the earliest system in that regard. Not an easy job but it's just pull and replace. Hopefully the dash is the same color. just move It over.

Earlier trucks usually had rpo systems in place so in some regard it has potential to be easier. At least if you just want to lay in something you make.

But if you can do that...you won't be asking. So it's easier to swap it out.
If i use my power doors and use a unaversal wire that they sale for power window switches then my remote wouldn,t work right?

why wouldnt it.?.? you can make anything you want.

no matter....you can make and run your own wires. just incorporate circuit breakers and fusing to keep the fire risk down...

my earlier dribble.....i was referencing for plug and play. at the end of the day its not any different then hooking a winch up.

Some minor corrections:

There are 3 wiring harnesses:
1. With 4 wires for the door speakers, door ajar power, ground
2. With 8 wires for door speakers and power mirrors (power/ground for both mirror switch; 3 for right mirror - up/down, left/right, ground; and 2 for radio and door ajar)
3. With 15 wires for door speakers and power mirrors, power locks and power windows
Pin out for the 16 pin connector.

If i swap the whole dash would my remote work or would i have to have the remote for the donor dash?

In a 1999 Ranger a RAP module was used with the GEM module for Keyless entry
RAP module has the antenna and stores the digital FOB codes
RAP module is behind drivers seat, behind trim cover

It is easy to re-program RAP modules to add and delete Fobs
So you can use either RAP module with the new wiring, and then add all the Ford Fobs you have to it, assuming Fobs are compatible, which they usually are

where is rap module in extended cab?

Should be behind driver seat and behind plastic trim on back of the cab

But if its not there then its above glove box behind passenger side airbag

Got another dash but someone cut the plug off gem module and I got another plug. All the wire match up but the last two. one is blue with black stripe and the other is yellow. Can you help me ?

Blue/black and yellow are for 4x4 control, page 2

1998/1999/2000 are the same wiring for GEM

@joey74 Note: You need the airbag module that matches the GEM or you will get the flashing airbag light (and your airbags won't work).
