I was wondering if anybody has a diagram for under the dash on a 96 ford ranger splash. It was an automatic but I put a 5 speed manual tanny in it from a 98 xl ranger base model. ( meaning the 98 didn't have electric windows, power doors, etc.....) I'm thinking something didn't get plugged up or something. Can anyone help?

If your issue is the starter motor won't work by turning the key to START then its because of the neutral safety switch

1996 Ranger would have been pre-wired for a Clutch safety switch, look above clutch pedal area in the cab and you will see a longer thin 6 wire connector, only 4 wires may be used

In an automatic Ford installed a by-pass connector on this 6 wire connector, which extended those wires down to the automatics DTR(safety) switch

You just need to unplug the extension and plug in the clutch rods safety switch
OR
On the 6 wire connector 2 wires at the end will be pink and red/blue(or white/pink), jumper these 2 wire together and that will by-pass the Safety switch

Clutch pedal switch looks like this: https://www.justanswer.com/uploads/lostrider/2008-08-28_222939_1.gif

Connector is wired like this: https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fo..._fc3ef66f2c06a4fa57e362ac531408d08a29a5ab.gif

5 and 6 are connected for START to work

If you want wiring diagrams for 1996 Ranger
Google: 1996 Ford Ranger EVTM

This is one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/195293589125?hash=item2d7867ae85:g:h8gAAOSwUCBi~cd3

Has all the wiring for all options, also location of wires and colors
And its FREE
You can buy it, us it, and then re-sell it for what you paid
These are always in demand
