Is there a diagram to show me where each pain goes from a Ford bronco 2.9 computer to a Ford ranger 4.0 computer

Not really. But. There is a book for each year model, called the EVTM (Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual) that has the pinouts for the ecu connectors. So you need the pin out for the truck you are working on and for the donor wiring harness. If you give us the information for each of those, chances are that someone here can post the pages you need.

Or you can usually order evtm’s on eBay

Then, you compare the two and figure out what to connect where.

I moved your post over to the 2.9L forum because it appears you're trying to run a 2.9L off a 4.0L ECU.

Why don't you tell us what it is you're trying to accomplish?

A lot of you guys push the 4.0 swap. Direct bolt in, more power. Everyone seems to make it through that, till they get to the wiring. All the 4.0 swap questions are about the wiring. There is a article in the tech pages about it, but it's not very clear. Most people who are successful with the swap, are good at wiring diagrams and figuring it out. Someone should step up and make the wiring for this swap easier for the masses.

Wish it were that easy

1986-1992(1990 for B2) 2.9l wiring wasn't all the same, it varied by year
1990-1994 4.0l Ranger wiring was almost the same every year, almost

Also throw in manual or auto, EGR, no EGR............

1995-2000 4.0l was WAY DIFFERENT, larger computer, 104 wire

So not possible to do a diagram that would cover each combination

If OP were to include the YEARS of each, i.e. 1990 B2 putting in 1992 4.0l automatic and computer from a Ranger(Explorer 4.0l wiring was also a bit different than Rangers) then someone else may have done that swap and has some notes that they could share

there is a way. make it standalone. integrate from there.

The only reason I'm not going to be butthurt about encouraging a swapper is because you said standalone.

Go stand in the corner.

I will too.

we will integrate in 10.

That makes sense to me. I thought that was where we were going on another thread in here, I thought he was going to use the underhood fuse box and all from the donor, and we just needed to power up some of the chassis wiring. But it seems when you start throwing diagrams out there, people run off, never to be seen again.

I am not sure what they are thinking? If we did tell them how to get it going, who is going to work on it later if they have a problem? If you took it to a shop, they would take one look at it and refuse to work on it. They are going to have to buck up and learn about how to wire it up and how to keep it going when something breaks.

non pats system. obd1 stand alone system.
