wiring fog lights to headlights

Take the toggle switch out of the equation and there you go.

Just like so.... Use the signal coming out of the headlight switch to activate the relay.

Get a 12v relay
Hook the "activation" pins to headlight circuit, headlights on relay on
Hook the contacts on the relay to the fog lamp circuit
Bypass fog light switch so power is always on, or just leave switch on.

This will not draw any power from the headlight circuit, fuses would still be in place and protecting each circuit.

Make sure relay contacts are rated for the power that will pass thru them.

ok so if im reading this right all i have to do it basically splice a relay into the headlights and wire them to my other lights? also what wire do I need to splice into?

Assuming you want them to work like factory, figure out which wire at the headlight has power when the low beams are on. That is the wire you want.

Shane, I think your diagram is bass ackwards. I think pins 86 and 87 need to be flipped.

ok well idk which one it is how can I figure that out? Also dont have a tester to show me so is there a diagram somewhere I can just look at?

Go buy a test light. They are cheap and stupid-proof. Voltmeters can be misleading.

Well, there must be more than one way to do it Adsm. I can find 3 or 4 versions via google search.

My point was more that the load should be straight across from the Vbatt line instead of ground in the picture.

I agree, it would make the diagram clearer. Also agree with getting a test light, I do not see how you can mod your electrical system without such a basic tool, just $4 on Amazon.

Oh, gotcha. I guess that's what I get for using someone else's graphic. :D

I mounted aftermarket spot lights in my grill, and at the moment I spliced into the high beam wire. I noticed the actual spotlights are dim when wired into the lights vs the battery. Any fix for that or will I just have to run a switch.
