wireing question

please help i started the truck and the wire under the hood on drivers side near fire wall started smoking and my radio cut out. it is the wire that starts out blue has 2 fuseable links on it then turns black and like a pee green stripe. does anyone have any idea what that wire goes to? its an 87 ranger stx if that helps thanks jason

Not sure which one you'll need , found it in the Tech Library. There are multiple sections for the 2.9. And not sure if the color code info will track to yours.

you might be better served with getting a harness from the J/Y

Have you checked the fuse for the radio yet? Was the fuse in the radio slot larger then recommended? I'm checking through the wiring diagrams and I'm having a tough time finding that particular wire.

Edit: Its a sure bet that, that wire goes to the radio or fuse block.

the radio still works though thats the wierd thing everything still works i dont understand it at all

Does it still smoke when you turn the key?

i cut the wire and like i said everything works. it dont make any sense to me at all.
