Wireing need help, Parts truck goin to the scrap friday!

Ok tryin to get a 4.0 started, 95 ranger. Brother has a 94 explorer I can nab anything for part befor friday evening.

The truck has been set of fire on the inside, explorer was running till we done god knows what to it yesterday killing it.lol Btw 4.0 will be goin in to a clip style frame buggy.....Has auto trans if that has anything to do with it.

what the heck does it take to start a 4.0 wireing wise, and can it be done just usein the engine harness? Do i need anything on the inside to make it run. that is all.

You need the headlight harness. It is possible, and has been done by several people around the forum, to run a 4.0 on the 1st gen dash and cab harness. There are about 8 wires that need spliced, but I don't know what they are. Best way to do it would be to sit down with wiring diagrams from both vehicles and compare.

I don't care if you are putting it in a lawnmower. You still need the headlight harness to run the 4.0. The ignition control harness is wrapped up with the headlight wiring. And you will still want at least some of the dash wires because things like switched power, PCM power, etc are in the dash harness.
