Winter's coming...

I have 4x4, manual locking hubs, and no weight. I enjoy slipping and sliding sometimes haha, and if not i pop it in 4x4

Yep when I used to work at 4 in the morning I would fishtail around the intersections. Once I bent a no parking sign over...no damage to the Ranger so whoops lol.

snow? whats that...oh that's right i left that behind when i moved to Florida! Honestly I kinda miss the snow around Christmas time. But i've never driven on my own in it so I will offer no real opinion on this matter.

yeah my hubs get turned and stay in most of the winter all i have to do is pull the lever

I've got a toolbox with about 200lbs in it, I'd guess. (Never really weighed it all together) After that the only weight in there is snow.

My truck is 2wd open diff and I only had trouble once last winter. Put the parking brake on just a little bit and the truck pulled right out of it.

That was with crappy tires that didn't even have a brand name on them...I've got a set of destination ATs on it now and I don't expect to be having any major problems this year.

I just park the ranger and jump in my Chevy 1500. Drop the plow blade and make some cash:icon_thumby:

You know, wet weather and salt in the bed is not too good of an Idea if you don't like that brown stuff growing under the bags when they gets wet. :bawling:

Im for the tube-o-sand that you can buy at COOP. But just make sure you find a way to brace em down. Can be deadly in an accident. I have a packrat tool drawer in the back of my truck that I put a couple of them in the outsides over the rear axle. That sand and the box equals about 300#. And with sand it make it great to throw under the wheels when ya do get er stuck good.

Don't laugh at me but I gave in and decided to buy one of these at Canadian Tire and suprisingly it helped a lot. It adds about 300lbs to the box and you can still through 500lbs on top of it when if freezes up. Enough to haul my little sled and some gear around.

now that i no longer have a topper on it, i think i'm gonna try just letting it fill up with snow.

especially because i don't want mold growing on my sand bags when the snow melts a little bit... that's one thing i don't deal with is mold. it makes me want to vomit

Mine's 2WD with the 3.55 and limited slip. It'll be the first winter for me in this truck. Ima just try a little more aggressive tire, and maybe a few bags of sand.

those are the best way imo and the safest.

I agree now that mine has frozen it's the cat's meow. I strapped it down at the corners with some heavy duty rubber bungees but it doesn't seem to move because it goes around the wheel well. I Even when it was water it didn't slosh when I stopped due to the internal baffles. Over all I'm impressed with it.

do you guys use anything to keep the bags in the bed of the truck? the only thing im worried about is sand bags flying out the bed and through my back window if something were to happen

I've done the snow weight before, it works wonderfully. IMO, best way to do it.
