windshield wiper problem

I have a windshield wipr problem that I would love some help with. The wipers on my `86 B II only work on the high speed. The interval and low speed setting do nothing. THe problem is not in the switch or the motor. I tried a new switch and still the power does not make it to the low speed wire at the motor. the only component left is the "govenor". It shows up in the wirdiagrams, but Ford has dicontinued it and the local parts houses don't sell it, I can't even find a picture of what it looks like. So far looking under the dash I haven't been able to trace the wires to anything that might be it. Help.

its the resistor, it should be on the passenger side firewall. maybe check ebay. i find alot of hard to find parts on there. hope that helps.

Thanks, I'll take a look at that. Is it on the exterior side of the firewall or the interior?

i had the very same thing happen. even replaced the governor with a used one, still the same. bought a new wiper motor as was told by somebody on these forums. $100 later i went and bought all the used wiper governors at at junk yard and found one that fixed the problem. everything is fine now. LMC trucks claim to have one for sell at approximatley $80 i think. good luck and merry christmas

Is it the thing that has a 3 or 4 pin electrical connector and a vac. line going to it/in it? Mounted approx. in front of the passenger side wiper arm on the firewall?
