every time i buy a latch for my sliding rear window (1987 XLT 4X4 2.9) from the local auto parts it works for a very short time. I like opening it up from time to time but it seem that these plastic hinged lock by Dorman are crap. Anybody out there solve this issue. Thanks Dirty

I never liked that rear window lock after having mine broken into twice on my 94. I made a more positive bar that slips into the track so the window can't be pried open. Amazing what you can do with a bar-b-q skewer.

Mine has two small windows. Guess i could make 2 shorter ones? Dirty

Why not? A 4-pak of skewers is less than 4$ at Home Depot. You can use the spares to throw some shrimp on the BarB. Just make sure to make it fit snug and file/bend the end up or the window will climb over it. I've tried forcing the window even with the latch open and it wouldn't budge.

seem i got a few skewers around here. Thanks,Dirty

worked like a charm. Thanks Dirty
