do ya like it? had any problems with it? I am thinking of either gettin this one or the viper 9500. I have a viper on my sidexside and have abused the daylights out of it with out a problem.

Yes, these are good winches, Bro!!! I have used them before and I have several buddies that have owned them and several who bought them new many years ago and still have them.....+.....they are easy to maintain!!!

smittybilt... good customer service... and a LLT!!!!!! they're good people. no personal experience w/ the winch, but know lots that do and love it.

I love mine when it works. Died after a year of use. I figured it was the solenoid because it would click when I would push the in or out button. I replaced that The end cap(s) have little paper gaskets that keep crap out and It is suggested that you pull them off and replace that gasketry with RTV for good measure. I have yet to pull the motor off and see if thats toast. Just stating my experience. I do know 3 or 4 people that have them and haven't had any problems. I ordered mine from 4wd.com and bought the $40 or so lifetime warranty through them so I should be covered if there is anything wrong. Apparently it came with a warranty from smittybuilt but I haven't bothered to go through them. 4wd.com shipped the solenoid out quick and with no questions. Heres a picture of what mine has to go through, the winch is underwater somewhere there.

It will live again after I complete the current transformation. I need it!

made by badlands, its sold by harbor freight, i kind of laughed when i saw it in the magizine ad but then i saw it in the new products section i (my) new petersons 4W-OR mag. surprisingly its the about the same price as the smitybilt and milemarker winches. just wondering what Y'all think about it and if anybody has used it or any other winches.

I've had the XRC-8 on my Ranger for a couple of years now. I've pulled a Rubicon up a hill, an Explorer up a hill, a Hummer 3 out of the mud, a tree across a trial and a Nissan car that drove off an embankment. It never hesitated in all of those situations. I don't know if it's a good thing or a sad thing, but I've never had to pull myself out of a situation LOL.

Winch

I have a "Champion" 9000 lb. winch I bough at Costco 5 or 6 years ago for $339.99 and its still going strong. I made a receiver hitch mount for it, can mount it front or back on my 88 Ranger, also made a receiver for the front of my car hauler so I can pull vehicles up on it.

Harbor Freight has one for $299.00 if your not going to try to drag a full size truck...
