Well, getting ready to finally build my front bumper pretty soon, was wondering if you guys had some pics of how you guys attached yours to the frame, just trying to get different design ideas. Especially because of my body lift. I'm thinking about cutting the frame horns, mounting the winch plate to the bottom of the frame so the winch itself will sit between the frame rails... and then just build the bumper off of that pretty much. I don't really need ideas for the bumper itself, just mounting. Im planning on having it built pretty light and skinny, because im not really in to huge bulky 300lb bumpers...

build it in 2 pieces.. make a winch mount then have your "skin" bumper cover bolt into that.. thats how i did mine.. 3 inch body.. winch fits between frame rails.. i cut frame horns off and ran tube between each frame rail crumple zone to stiffen it up and attached it that way.

Do you have any pics? Are you saying you put tubing inside the frame itself or in between the frame rails? Doesnt look like there would be room for both the winch and a piece of tube between the two frame rails?

no in the frame where the bolts go through the crumple zone.. that way i ddnt swoosh the frame rails.. when i tightened up the bolts

Look how I cut the frame horns off and boxed them in. You probably won't care for the actual bumper, but the boxed in frame horns with the bolts welded into it are definitely what you're talking about.

I've beat the crap out of my bumper and it's only had the paint scratched. The frame will probably get completely wrecked before the bumper even flexes, but it acts as its own crossmember.

Cool! Thanks for the post. I think it actually looks pretty good. I'm not a diamond plate guy, but looks like you did a nice job.

Diamond plate? That's another guy's work.

Mine is the tubes. I posted the link for you to see how I boxed in the frame and used the bolts. It's really easy to build, strong, and modular so you can bolt up any ugly hunk of junk with two 3/4" holes in a few minutes.
