Winch and factory bumper?

Came across this picture:

Wonder if anyone has done something similar, I'm trying to get a better idea as to how he has it mounted.

There have been a couple stock bumper-mounted winches floating around on here. I'm guessing one would need to tie the winch mounting plate into the frame or factory bumper mounts (possibly after reinforcing them) in order for it to be sturdy enough. Check the "Lets see your bumpers" thread in the forums section, there might be some more examples there.

looks like he took his front tow hooks off and bolted his winch mount in their place

The picture above is the easiest way to do it from what I can tell. I have been thinking about the same thing and done a lot of studying on the subject. I have a 03 FX4 and that is what I am going to do. Here is a close up pic of the same setup that I saved so I can use it to make mine.

here is a pic. of mine. my truck has a b/l so i had room under the bumper. i used a jeep mount plate and heated and bent the ends upward. and bolted them in. i hope this helps
